Choosing Your Bridesmaids’ Attire

Wedding Tips

April 26, 2018

You’ve got the ring, set the date, and asked your best friends to be a huge part of your special day! Now it’s time to decide on those beautiful dresses they’ll be showing off on your wedding day, but where do you even start?

Between styles, fabrics, colors, and lengths, there are so many choices when it comes to your girls’ attire, but keep these tips in mind and you should have no trouble finding the perfect dresses for them.

Keep comfort in mind.

You should be taking both the setting and the weather in mind. Are you getting married outside in the middle of summer? If so, long dresses may make your girls miserable. Will they have to take pictures outside in the dead of winter? Then maybe forego those shorter dresses. Your bridesmaids will thank you for keeping their comfort in mind.

Consider who your girls are.

If you’re eyeing a strapless dress, think first about if you have girls that can manage a strapless dress. Everyone’s different and some shapes and sizes just won’t function in a strapless dress, or maybe they just won’t feel comfortable in one. Some girls may have an issue with high-collar dresses or V-neck styles. Considering the shape and size of each girl, along with her preferences, will leave you with bridesmaids who feel great enough to help you with anything on wedding day!

A budget isn’t always a bad thing.

Ask each of your girls what they can comfortably spend on a dress. Most of the time, bridesmaids know what they committed to when saying yes, but you may have a girl (or a few) that just can’t afford what you think they can. Give them the opportunity ahead of time to tell you what they can do, and then find something in that price range. You may not be able to get the most lavish, designer dress on the market, but there are so many options out there that you should have no trouble finding a beautiful dress on a budget.

Don’t be afraid to be different.

Matching your wedding color can be difficult when it comes to dresses, especially if you do have a smaller price range to stay in. Don’t be afraid to take your wedding color and let your girls pick different shades of it. The ombré look is definitely in, and your bridesmaids will enjoy mixing and matching the color. You can do this with styles too! Even just picking 2 or 3 styles and letting your girls choose which one they’re most comfortable in will make your girls so much happier, and still look fabulous at your wedding.
