Tipping Your Wedding Vendors

Wedding Tips

May 22, 2018

If you’ve never planned a wedding before, knowing how much to tip your wedding vendors probably isn’t common knowledge to you. Is it like tipping at a restaurant? Do I tip all of them or just certain ones? These are the questions couples everywhere are asking and that I hope we’ll answer for you today. Obviously everyone loves tips, and it’s recommended to tip any vendor who has exceeded your expectations of their service, but if you want to know the etiquette behind it all, keep reading!

Photographers/Videographers

Do I tip? If you received excellent service, yes

How much? $50-200 each is recommended

Planner/Coordinator

Do I tip? If you received excellent service, yes

How much? Same as photographers, or around 10-15%

Venue

Do I tip? Not typically, but if the venue went above and beyond your expectations, it’s a nice gesture

How much? $100-200

Catering

Do I tip? Yes, if gratuity wasn’t included on your bill. If it was included, you should still tip the wait staff members

How much? 20% and then $25-50 per delivery/wait staff member

DJ/Band

Do I tip? If you received excellent service, yes

How much? $50-100 each is recommended

Florist

Do I tip? If you received excellent service, yes

How much? $50-100 for designer is recommended, and $20-$25 per delivery staff member

Hair and/or Makeup Artist

Do I tip? Yes, it is usually expected

How much? 20%

Transportation

Do I tip? If you received excellent service, yes

How much? 15-20% of bill, if gratuity wasn’t included

This is just a guide on standard etiquette but these can all vary depending on your location, what/how many hours you hired the specific vendor for, your budget, and the level of service you received. It’s all a nice gesture to write thank you notes to your vendors after the big day, and especially to leave them great reviews for future clients to see!
